I am not going to change the world, I am not going to say anything that hasn’t been said, I just want to share my sadness, my anger and the conviction that what happened should not – never- shut our mouths up.
Earlier today three gunmen attacked the office of Charlie Hebdo, a French satirical newspaper in Paris. They killed twelve people : journalists, policemen, cartoonists – Men – because the newspaper dared doing what a newspaper is supposed to do: denounce, disturb and, sometimes, irritate.
I have no words to express how infuriated and shocked I am. They came, brainwashed, preaching at people who used words to open the mind of their readers. They came with guns, shooting people who fought with pens and brushes. This attack is the epitome of cowardice, a heinous crime to establish fear and silence, a dangerous silence in which nobody dares speaking or even thinking.
They will not achieve that. They must not. We must stand united, we must write, draw, think and disagree. We must discuss and debate. We must share.
Today we lost brave fighters of the truth but we gained a strenghtened belief: freedom of speech is something we must fight for. And we will.
